What Shelfie is

Shelfie is a mobile app that lets you snap a photo of any product, file it in your own personal collection with categories, ratings, notes, and reminders, and find it again later. This policy explains what data the app and our website collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Data we collect

• Your account. When you sign up, we collect the email address you provide and a password you choose. Your password is stored only as a salted hash — never in plain text. We also create a secure, opaque login token so you stay signed in on your device; on mobile it is stored in your device's secure storage, not in our database as plain text.
• Products you save. For every product you save we store the name, the category you file it under, your rating (Favorite, Like, Dislike, Avoid, or Want to Try), any notes you add, and the photo you take.
• Photos and photo search. Your product photos are stored in a private Azure Blob Storage container. To make photo search work, our service analyzes each photo (using Azure AI Vision) and stores the generated caption and tags with the product, so you can later find it by the way it looks.
• Reminders. If you set a reminder on a product, we store the schedule you chose (one time or recurring), whether it should appear in-app or as a push notification, any custom message you wrote, and when it last fired.
• Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token and platform (iOS or Android) so your reminders can reach you. Reminders are scheduled on your device; your push token is kept on our servers for delivery.
• Website waitlist. If you join the waitlist on our website, we store only the email address you enter.

We do not collect your name, location, contacts, or browsing history, and we do not use analytics trackers or advertising SDKs in the app or on our website.

Why we collect it

Everything we collect is used to run the features you asked for: keeping you signed in, saving and organizing your products, searching them (including by photo), and delivering the reminders you set. We don't use your data for anything else.

Where your data is stored

Account details, products, reminders, and notification tokens live in a cloud database (PostgreSQL); product photos live in a private Azure Blob Storage container that the app accesses only through secure, time-limited links. Data is sent to our servers over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and passwords are stored using salted, one-way hashing.

Who has access

Your data is visible to you through the app. The developer/owner of Shelfie may access data only when needed to operate the service or to help you with a support request. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete any product from your shelf at any time and it is removed from your account. If you delete your account, we remove your account, saved products (including their photos), ratings, notes, reminders, and notification tokens.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time. You can edit or delete individual products right in the app. To delete your account — and everything in it — open the app, tap Delete account next to your email at the top of your shelf, and follow the confirmation. This permanently removes your account, saved products, photos, and reminders, and cannot be undone. You can also write to us at hello@snapshelfie.com with any questions about your data.

Children

Shelfie is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us at hello@snapshelfie.com and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the updated version here and update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll do our best to let you know in the app before it takes effect.
